Adtalem Medical Faculties Improve Scientific Partnership with Mount Sinai Hospital

CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE) – To address the country’s medical shortage, Adtalem Global Education (NYSE: ATGE) Medical Schools, American University of the Caribbean Medical School (AUC) and Ross University Medical School (RUSM) have a clinical agreement Partnerships with closed Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago.

“Mount Sinai Hospital is pleased to take this opportunity to offer clinical rotations to more RUSM students and serve as a clinical location for AUC students. We really appreciate our partnership with these two excellent schools and with Adtalem Global Education, ”said Dr. Mira Iliescu, chief physician of the Sinai Health System and chairman of the medical department of Mount Sinai Hospital.

With an anticipated shortage of 120,000 doctors in the US by 2030, primary care is likely to be hardest hit and 50,000 doctors will not meet planned needs. Together, schools are helping to address the grave labor shortage as nearly 60 percent of AUC and RUSM graduates practice in primary care, compared with 35 percent of US medical school graduates.

“As part of our commitment to providing the highest quality medical education, AUC is proud to bring its medical students back to such a prestigious teaching hospital as Mount Sinai in Chicago,” said Dr. Heidi Chumley, Executive Dean of AUC.

“Mount Sinai is a valued partner in our efforts to promote a diverse and collaborative learning environment for RUSM students, and we look forward to expanding our partnership,” said William F. Owen, Jr., MD, FACP, Dean and Chancellor by RUSM.

In addition to Mount Sinai, AUC and RUSM have clinical programs with teaching hospitals across the country to ensure students receive hands-on training in some of the best hospitals in the United States.
