Did Johnny Depp Date Keira Knightley Throughout Pirates of the Caribbean? – SheKnows

In middle school, I was embarrassingly easy to hack. The hint? Pirate. The password? Johnny Depp. You see, in 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean came out and everything changed for me by learning who Johnny Depp was and suddenly my life had a new purpose. Keira Knightley, who was a whopping 17 years old in the first film, served well enough as my avatar in the pirate world, and when they shared a long-hyped kiss in the second film, my teenage heart nearly exploded with joy. Almost two decades later, the dork we see on the news about his ongoing litigation with ex-wife Amber Heard is unrecognizable to the charismatic star who once described the young Knightley as “awkward” because of his age difference (Depp was 43 years old old) their 20 at the time). And according to his new $ 50 million libel lawsuit against Heard, in which Depp has to handle all communications from the actress’s ex-girlfriends, even his relationship with Knightley wasn’t as family-friendly as we once thought. Knightley is listed as one of Depp’s former romantic partners (along with other co-stars like Angelina Jolie and Marion Cotillard) and suddenly we’re seeing everything in a whole new light.

As The Hollywood Reporter points out, it is doubtful that Depp will take any further legal action against Heard, having just lost a British defamation suit against The Sun for calling him a bully, whom he is also appealing. And this case becomes all the more risky as it includes these other A-list actresses as well.

“The process will likely be even more intrusive and end up sucking other high-profile personalities into the vortex,” writes The Hollywood Reporter of his defamation suit. “Depp is committed to producing ‘all responsive communications’ with former romantic partners such as Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightley and Marion Cotillard.”

Depp and Jolie played in The Tourist in 2010; Depp and Cotillard played in Public Enemies in 2009; and Depp and Knightley starred in the first three pirate films from 2003 to 2007. No further details are given about the possible timing of any of these relationships, and we can only rely on Depp’s public comments from the time he worked with each of these women.

For example, here’s his take on that famous kiss with Knightley in Dead Man’s Chest for The Evening Standard: “It’s always uncomfortable to kiss someone who isn’t romantically involved. But the fact that Keira is twenty years younger than me made it infinitely more uncomfortable. Still, it was a good sport and we did what we had to do. “

That was a quote from after he finished filming the second part of the series – given that they were romantically involved at some point in the years that followed, as well as the fact that the woman he married is Amber Heard a year younger than Knightley and makes it hard for us to take him at his word. However, as further court documents via THR show, there was a lot going on behind the scenes of the filming of the pirate franchise that we didn’t know about.

“During the shooting at Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in Australia, Depp swallowed eight ecstasy pills at once and started a terror campaign against Heard, according to a testimony in the UK case,” THR documents. “It culminated in his fingertip being cut off, which resulted in him being flown back to Los Angeles for surgery. Pirates had to stop production for two weeks, which cost the studio around $ 350,000 a day. “

After that final legal battle, I don’t know if I’ll ever see Pirates of the Caribbean the same way again. And when Knightley, Jolie or Cotillard want to weigh the timeline here, I’m all ears.
